MONDAYS             4:30 – 5:30pm             Advanced Acting Class
This class has a pre-requisite of previously attending an Academy class or BCT Camp. 
Actors will explore different genres through scenes and monologues.

TUESDAYS              2:30 – 3:15pm             Toddlers in Action
Let’s play! Students will use imaginative play to discover the sparkle that inspires an interactive adventure. Each quest will build into a story that we create and act out.

TUESDAYS              3:30 – 4:30pm             Elementary Acting Class
This class is designed for both the new and the growing actor.  Focus will be on character development and making strong choices on stage. Students will strengthen performance skills through class activities in monologues and scenes.

WEDNESDAYS       3:30 – 4:30pm             Elementary Music Class
Students will learn vocal techniques to aid them in performance and explore music through a variety of instruments.

WEDNESDAYS       4:00 – 5:00pm             Technical Theatre
Students will learn about set design and construction, costuming, makeup, and stage management.  Students will also serve as crew for the Showcase Performance.

WEDNESDAYS       4:30 – 6:30pm             Musical Theatre Production 
Students will audition and rehearse a One Act Musical for performance on May 22nd

ACTORS ACADEMY - Patricia Hausman, Instructor

THESE CLASSES ARE DESIGNED FOR BOTH THE NEW AND THE GROWING ACTOR. STUDENTS WILL DEVELOP AND DEEPEN UNDERSTANDING OF THE BODY, MOVEMENT, AND VOICE AS WE EXPLORE THE CRAFT OF ACTING. STUDENTS WILL STRENGTHEN THEIR PHYSICAL AND VOCAL ABILITIES AS THEY CLARIFY OBJECTIVES AND RELATIONSHIPS IN SCENES AND MONOLOGUES. WHILE EXPLORING DIFFERENT CHARACTER CHOICES THE STUDENTS WILL LEARN HOW TO FIND AND CREATE THE RIGHT CHARACTER FOR A MONOLOGUE OR SCENE. THROUGH A SERIES OF QUESTIONS AND READING WHAT IS NOT IN THE SCRIPT, STUDENTS WILL CREATE CHARACTERS USING THEIR VOICES, BODIES, EXPRESSIONS, AND ACTIONS. STUDENTS WILL DEVELOP SKILLS IN VOICE, MOVEMENT, COOPERATION, EMPATHY, CRITICAL THINKING, AND PROBLEM SOLVING SKILLS. STUDENTS WILL USE THEATRE GAMES AND CREATIVE PLAY TO HELP DISCOVER AND SHARE THEIR ARTISTIC VOICES, AND BEGIN TO WORK TOGETHER AS PERFORMERS.  ON MAY 26TH WE WILL HAVE A SHOWCASE PERFORMANCE FOR THE STUDENTS TO PRESENT MONOLOGUES, SCENES, AND SKITS.

 

MUSIC ACADEMY - Trevin Roming, Instructor
Students will learn the basic principles of music notation and learn how to read music, how to notate rhythms, how to use solfege and implement simple sight singing techniques through open discussion and group work. Students will work on warmup techniques and vocal control. Students will learn melody and harmony and how to use the voice to create blended sounds. They will learn vocal techniques to aid them in performance as they l work individually and in groups on varying types of music. Students will work on specific vocal techniques and sound quality enhancement each class in order to help them achieve a fully supported sound as they learn how to deliver the best performance.  On May 26th we will have a Showcase Performance for the students to present solos, duets, and ensemble work.

TECHNICAL THEATRE ACADEMY - PATRICIA HAUSMAN, INSTRUCTOR

This class is designed for students interested in the behind the scenes work of theatre.  While open to all ages, the course will require a certain level of maturity and is probably best suited for students 10 years of age and older. Students will learn about costuming, makeup, props, set, sound and lights. Students will get hands on experience in sewing and learn about fashion through the ages.  Students will also craft props from various materials.  In the makeup session students will learn various techniques and get to practice on each other as artist and model.  We will touch on all areas of technical theatre and the necessary roles beyond the stage.
